Speaker crackling?
Crackling is the speaker telling you something is wrong — but not what. The fastest way to narrow it down is a controlled test, not random YouTube videos.
Likely causes, roughly ordered
- Debris at the grille. Crackle that comes and goes, worse at some frequencies. Most fixable — clean the grille, run Deep Clean.
- Water. Crackle plus muffling after exposure. Run Water Eject, then dry fully.
- Enclosure rattle. Buzzing that changes when you press the phone's edges or lay it down differently. A loose grille or case vibration, not the driver.
- Blown or damaged driver. Distortion at all volumes, even quiet, across unrelated frequencies — especially after a drop or prolonged max-volume use.
- Source or connection. Crackle only on calls, or only on Bluetooth? That's the call connection or the Bluetooth device, not your speaker.
The two-minute narrowing test
Run the speaker test and answer the distortion probes honestly. Crackling on one or two tones suggests debris or a rattle. Crackling across several frequencies suggests damage — try one Deep Clean cycle, and if nothing changes, take it for physical inspection.
