How to get a useful result
Find a quiet room, disconnect Bluetooth, and answer honestly — "barely" is a perfectly good answer. If a tone crackles, say so: distortion across several frequencies is the most informative outcome this test can produce.
After the summary, try a Deep Clean cycle if debris or water seems plausible, then retest. Unchanged behavior after cleaning points toward physical inspection rather than more tones.

What does the speaker test check?
Left/right channel routing, bass (125–250 Hz), voice frequencies (500 Hz–1 kHz), high frequencies (2–8 kHz), and distortion probes that ask whether each tone sounded clean, crackling, or rattling.
Is this a hardware diagnosis?
No. It's a guided listening test — results describe what you heard, not a certified verdict on your hardware. It narrows down the likely next step: another cleaning cycle, or physical inspection.
Do I need headphones?
For the stereo check, yes if possible. Many phone speakers are mono, so hearing both test tones from one speaker is normal and not a failure.
